community rules

While we are lax in nature, it’s important to keep a few rules in mind to ensure our group thrives and we all have an enjoyable time together. All prospective members must agree to the following terms as they are non-negotiable. Please note: a.) Rules are subject to change if we notice patterns needing to be addressed; b.) The owners have the right to remove members from the group at any time for not adhering to our community agreements.

1. Writers must be 21+. There are no limits to the themes our stories will embark on. Beyond the use of strong language, backgrounds and SLs may contain mature and graphic content of a violent, sexual (consensual, consensual-nonconsensual, and nonconsensual), and topically triggering/sensitive nature. Please respect the age restriction and an author’s right to write what they choose.

2. Keep all drama in SLs. This really boils down to respect. Respect each other. If you have an issue, discuss it in DMs like adults. Do not use the TL as a means of OOC drama or use your characters to elicit RL feelings. Passive aggressiveness tweets or non-SL TL drama will not be tolerated. If you cannot reach a resolution with the parties involved, please contact the EOTD Team directly and we will assist you.

3. Open and honest communication. A family cannot run smoothly if there is not a clear line of communication between members. It is your responsibility to communicate your needs effectively and in a respectful manner. Most drama, hurt feelings, and unfulfilled needs come from parties not being clear or honest about circumstances. Keep an honest line of communication open with partners to ensure you have a good experience.

4. RL comes before RP: Always. We are adults with RL responsibilities and commitments; please respect this fact and be flexible that account activity may vary. RP is not a job. RP is meant to be fun and demanding replies makes RP unpaid work. Fuck that. Nobody wants that. This goes for Time zone (TZ) difference as well. Make sure to connect with your SL partner(s) about their availability before embarking on any SLs.

Relatedly, if you will be inactive for more than a month, please contact your partners and the owners. Your account will be moved to The Damned: Sleepers until you return. We understand real life (RL) issues or losing a muse. We only ask that you be communicative. No one likes dropped or ignored SLs.

5. RP accounts are for Roleplaying. As we are adults, we expect you to separate your RL feelings from your character’s feelings. Keep RL/OOC tweets to a bare minimum on RP accounts. OOC accounts are optional, but encouraged. If it is hard to separate church and state (RP/RL), please consider making an OOC/personal account for Non-SL/RP tweeting.

This is not a dating service.

We encourage writers to write with everyone inside and outside of #EOTD––but not to the detriment of your character’s development within the group. We require that your main SL(s) be with a member and take priority over SLs with non-group members. Otherwise, what is the point of joining a group?

6. Be Active. Be A Member. With that said… Yeah, I know… We have to talk about it.

In order for an RPG to thrive, its members must be active participants within the group. While we understand RL events or uncooperative muses, we cannot hold your role indefinitely. This is not fair to your partners or the development of the collective story. We ask that you know your limits and needs as a writer and RP partner. If a character is no longer working for you, we are happy to talk with you to take next steps. Constant inactivity stunts stories, muses, and cohesion. Be honest and prepared to discuss your continued interest in a role if we notice constant inactivity.

We are here to have fun creating amazing stories, and making this universe come alive! Let’s do it together!
